The studio's name, Negerkunst, was largely inspired by this 1931 Max Bill poster for an exhibition of African Art Negerkunst – Prähistorische Felsbilder Südafrikas. 6 years later African Art, along with American Jazz, was labeled Negerkunst or Degenerate Art , by the Nazi regime of 1937.
